We stayed in Santa Margherita 18 mos. ago at the Best Western Hotel (can't remember the name) but it was on the water overlooking the boats in the bay. We hiked to Portofino the day we arrived and took the bus back to SM. The following two days we hiked the other towns of the CT. We would use the train, and hike, and take the water taxi back and saw each of the towns. It was the best part of our two week trip. In SM we would go down to the waterfront in the late afternoon when the fishing boats come in with their catch and the people would come to buy the fresh fish. Have a wonderful time.
