We ate at La Terrezza in the Hotel Cisterna two years ago, it was terrific. Make a reservation for a table in the older dining room next to the windows overlooking the incredible Tuscan countryside. Plan your dinner just before sunset. Amazing! Oh, yeah, the food is pretty good as well.
One night we decided to venture out o
firenze for dinner and asked at our hotel, the beautiful Torre di Bellosguardo!!!, for a great restaurant within an easy drive of Firenze. He suggested La Tenda Rossa, in the little town of Cerbaia. Exquisite meal and pleasurable drive. La Tenda Rossa forms part of the "group" of restaurants that includes Le Cirque 2000 in NYC. Need I say more...I still remeber my appetizer: small raviollini stuffed with sea bass!!! Boun appetitto!

Just back from Italy, including a day in San Gimignano. We had an excellent lunch at Ristorante Dorando - 2 Vicolo dell'Oro. The menu is based on the owner's research of classic Tuscan cuisine, back to the Medici's. Very unusual dishes - great food, albeit a bit pricey.

San Paolo is outside of the walls of S. Gimignano, which is not a bad thing! It should be peaceful and quiet but has not restaurant. There are several in town--it's a very small town. We like La Terrazze (I think they're closed Tues and Wed--check) in the Cisterna Hotel, also Bel Soggiorno on the main street in town, and La Griglia, but it's hard to go wrong in Italy when eating in a restaurant. Enjoy.
