Salzburg lodging: hotels, pensions, B&B

Hello,
We plan to travel in Austria in late May and are looking for recommendations for lodging in Salzburg. We will stay there for 5 nights. Something mid-range not too far from the center would be preferable. We plan to rent a car for a couple of days during our stay.

Thanks in advance.

Dimitry

we have booked here, to stay next month.

Just seemed contemporary smart, many of the hotels seemed to be old school grand which isn’t our style.

hope nobody now comes to pull the place apart.

We opted to stay in the new town (not far from the station) for reasons of practicality and convenience (we arrived by train from Vienna, and picked up our car rental when leaving Salzburg). The Altstadt (Old Town) is a pleasant, easy walk via the Mirabell Gardens. We stayed at the Achat Plaza Zum Hirschen, which still receives favourable reviews and also has on-site parking.

For Salzburg, I was looking to stay within the old town, the pedestrian town. In 2014 when we went, we could just walk out and wonder the small streets and taking in the grandeur of the past Asutro-Hungarian Empire. I loved this hotel and loved it's location:

I too am looking at Salzburg hotels for next winter. ToujoursVoyager - Old Town is my preference too, but as a light sleeper I worry about noise. Was Weissetaube quiet?
