Not long after 9/11, NY City had German Shepherds, in honor of the K-9 Rescuers...

We had cows in Bilbao in 2001, a couple of years later we had doves (both in the ground and flying) ... and who can forget the Berlin bears?

The cows were painted by local artists, the doves were painted by kids and then given to their schools.

The Berlin bears ... there was a bit of everything, from bears sponsored by local shops (one of them, located in front of the Museum of Cinema in Postdamer Platz, had the face of Marlene Dietrich) to a circle of bears representing all the countries in the world and painted by artists from those countries. They were located near the Brandenburg Gate, I believe in the place where the US embassy was going to built ...

One of my friends lived in Cincinnati during the Pig Exhibit. Her husband bought her one after it was all completed. It is quite the conversation piece in her Boca Raton house!

I saw the cows in Florence. I thought the idea was clever when they first did it in Chicago but I think I've seen enough cows and other spin-offs now.

I thought they were stupid here in NYC and I'm sorry to hear that they'll be in Florence when I arrive there next Saturday. Who ever came up with this dopey idea, anyway? Must be those folks who've designed all that cow "home(ly) decor". yeech.

I believe we had cows once in San Francisco - and then someone came up with the bright idea a few years later to have hearts (since you've all left your hearts here!)

LadyOLeisure that's a hoot! (Love the name too.)

It must be fun for them to explain exactly what's going on. By the time they get to the part where the flying pigs pull Santa's sleigh the guests must be shaking their heads.
