Rungis info?

I understand that the Rungis is the wholesale food market for most of the local chefs. Is it open to the public? Any info would be great!

I believe it is only open to the public if they are in group tours, otherwise only professionals. Rungis itself will arrange group tours but there is a minimum number required. Cordon Bleu has a day session, very reasonably priced IMO, that includes a trip to Rungis in the early morning and then you go to Cordon Bleu and there is a cooking class for a lunch using those ingredients. Only other info I have is that a foodie Robert Noah has tours you can sign up for, he also has a cooking school, but I can't find anything on it on the web (Paris en Cuisine). They do have a good website www.rungisinternational.com

Thank you very much for the info. Love to cook! I haven't been able to find any specific info on the day sessions at Cordon Bleu. Would LOVE to find out what's going on between Oct 31-Nov 5th as that is when we will be there.

The Rungis market is only open to professionals unless you're on a tour. There are two tours given but you must make arrangements in advance. One caveat - tours start at 5:30 AM. You can find info on the Cordon Bleu market tours and half to one day sessions on their web site www.cordonbleu.net. Click on Paris on the map, then "gourmet sessions" They don't seem to have anything within those few days, just an advanced sauces session (I really think it would likely be too late anyway to register).
