Bill, you gave me some good advice about Mykonos so maybe I can return the favor. The Royal Olympic is the most unfriendly hotel I have ever stayed in. The staff are rude, and the service is poor. It is not cheap, and the rooms are very ordinary. It is convenient to the Plaka, its only saving grace.Try elsewhere is my advice.
About 2 wks. ago a post was in rec.travel.europe asking about the location and other questions about this hotel. (IMO) The poster seemed doubtful of this hotel. I replied on the location and a Greek replied and basically voiced Larry's opinions and said the hotel was (or should be) a 3* not a 5*. You could do a Dejanews search of me and find the short thread in rec.travel.europe. I thought the Greek poster was just flaming the hotel until I read Larry's post. ...Regards, Walter...

This particular hotel is to be avoided!!
Try Electra Hotel on Ermou Str(expensive but convenient) or Esperia Palace (recently rennovated) on Panepistimiou Str. If you prefer a smaller hotel there is one in Kolonaki Area 5 minutes from Syntagma Square called Athenian Inn Hotel. It is a small friendly and relatively cheap Hotel.
