rovinj car returns
Hi All: We're planning our trip for June'08 and having several difficulties. We want to rent a car upon departing Dubrovnik, drive up to Split, ferry to Hvar town, return to Split en rounte to Plitvice and finish our trip in Rovinj.
The problem is that I can't seem to locate car rental agencies in Rovinj. Our plan is to leave Rovinj via the ferry to Venice and fly out of Venice the next day. We would appreciate any suggestions. Many thanks.

I think you will have to return the car in the nearest town with an agency - in the case of Rovinj that will be Pula.
Some rental companies don't allow you to take the car on ferries. I chose to use economycarrentals.com, who don't seem to charge for dropping off in a different place. They have offices in both Dubrovnik and Pula.

According to what I've read, Pula is around 40km from Rovinj, and there is a regular bus service between the two.
I just googled 'bus pula to rovinj' and then clicked on the first link. It seems there are buses starting at 4.40 in the morning, costing just 27kuna to get to Rovinj. Here's that link...

...but try googling the same and you'll find links to the tourist info offices in that area. I've found emailing the local TI offices very helpful when planning.
Hope this helps. I'm off to Split, Trogir, Korcula and Dubrovnik plus Mostar and Montenegro in just 4 weeks! I don't have time to get up further north than Split - that will have to wait for another trip!

Julia: have a great trip. I got creative after a while and e-mailed one of the local hotels in Rovinj. They were kind enough to recommend 2 possible car rental agencies, 1 of which does have an office in Rovinj. We'll drop off our original car in Pula and then rent a local car in Pula and return it in Rovinj the night before embarking on the Venezia ferry to Venice. Your help is much appreciated.
