Thought I'd add some good cross-references here for Le Domus Romane di Palazzo Valentini from another thread:

indy dad, thanks for linking your trip report and blog! I have bookmarked and I appreciate all of your tips.

I was looking at a different apartment from sleep in italy called http://www.sleepinitaly.com/rome/nav...-maddalena?r=s

So, you were pleased with the rental company and they were easy to deal with? I am assuming you sent a check or credit deposit and then paid cash on arrival?

Thanks and I think we will be big gelato and pizza eaters!

Yes, no issues with SleepInItaly. I would use them again.

Do note that your apartment is on the 3rd floor (likely 3 flights up from the ground) without a lift.

Girlonthego...since you ssked, we stayed in the Governo Vecchio apartment 2 summers ago and did have problems with Sleepinitaly. They were very late to meet us - I think it was 1 1/2 hours if I recall correctly - and never showed up at all to the apartment as agreed to check us out. Because of that, our deposit check was not returned to us. I emailed when we got home and they said they would rip it up, but I put a stop on it anyway just to be sure.

Despite all that, we did consider going back to the same apartment this last summer because we really liked it, and after all, things turned out OK in the end. The apartment was booked for our dates so we rented through a private owner this time.

Great gem of a report and blog.
Got as far as Kuk's foot mishap. That wasn't too nice for her.
Bookmarking for my afternoon tea.
Thank you

A couple of years later, I finally read all of this in one sitting. It looks like you and your family had a wonderful time. Reading that you have more TRs so off I go.

How terrible about Kuk's foot.

LOL TDudette! Glad you remembered to come back and read it. Fortunately the foot in Rome wasn't too bad.

Enjoy the other reports.

Indy_dad, just read your report and enjoyed your style of writing and following along on your trip. Your pointers for apartments were right on. Besides what you mentioned to bring along I also fold up a bunch of paper towels and a few plastic baggies (good to store that extra cheese in) and a very small container of dish soap. Often we find apartments have none of the basics when we arrive. So glad your family enjoyed Rome, my favorite city.

DH and I are returning to Rome and looking for sites to visit that we have not seen before. I went to the Palazzo Valentiini website and found that when one orders tickets ahead the page is only in Italian. Were you able to understand the site and successfully order ahead? We will be there early in Nov. but think it would be best to get tickets in advance especially as I would like to try and get the tour given in English. Any pointers you can give be for ordering these tickets online would be greatly appreciated.

Hi lcc

I haven't tried in awhile and actually don't remember the specifics that well. I do recall it was a little confusing. You could always try calling as well.

See if this helps:
