Rome :The Forum entrance & Palazzo Senatorio
Is their more than one entrance to the Forum?
I wanted to start at P. Senatorio on Campidoglio (Michelangelops piazza) before going to the Palatine museum. Will this be inside the Forum walls?
Thanks Marge

Yes, yes, yes.. Marge. That is PERFECT. When you walk behind the museum, the view of the Forum is one of my all time favorite surprises! Be sure to have your camera with you. You can walk down into the Forum from there. It's just wonderful. I was there last Easter and wisteria was blooming everywhere. Have a wonderful time!!!

Yes, there are 6 entrances and you will have a choice of 2.
If you go to the right of the Palazzo Senatorio you can enter the Forum on the Clivus Capitolinus. Which is the original intact ancient street that the military Triumphant parades would take going to the 'Temple of Jupiter O.M.C.'.
If you go to the left of the P. Senatorio you descend into the Forum on a modern staircase. This modern staircase roughly follows the ancient staircase that once stood there. The lower part of this ancient staircase was called the 'Scalae Gemoniae' (Gemonian Stairs). Prisoners who were killed in the Mamertine Prison/Carcer had their bodies thrown down these stairs and left for public viewing.
