Rome: Monti or Trastevere ?

Hi !

we will be in Rome for five night in july (first time there !) and we are looking at two appartement:

1) Trastevere on Via di Ponti Sisto. Vvery near Ponti Sisto. It's less expensive thna the one on monty (20 euro by night)

2) Monti: Near Via Paolina between Carvour metro and Tremini station.

We will arrive by plane (FCO), and the only daytrip we would (maybe) make is Ostia antica.

We are looking to walk everywhere and come back in the afternoon to take a nap and have wonderful meals.

Which one would you choose ?

thanks !

I would prefer the location near the Ponte Sisto, but there's nothing wrong with the Via Paolina either.
If you stay on Via di Ponte Sisto, there's a bus (number 280) running along the Lungotevere (the river road), that stops at Ostiense station, where you can get the train to Ostia Antica. You can use the same ticket for the entire trip.

I enjoy staying in Trastevere, but hard to go wrong with either. bvlenci is a great resource though so I would follow her advice.

I would stay near the Ponte Sisto. You would be near the very beautiful Villa Farnesina.

The new forum style demoted me. I think they've reconsidered now.
