Rome in December - Where to stay on a budget?

Hello,

We will be traveling to Rome in the beginning of December. It will be our first trip to Italy. We are looking for a hotel under 200 Euros a night that is nice and centerally located. We plan on doing a lot of sight seeing and won't be spending too much time in the room but still want it to be pleasant. We had looked at Albergo del Sole and Alimandi. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Rachel

My husband and I just got back from Rome last Tuesday. I highly recommend Hotel Casa Howard near the Spanish Steps. Very near the same street there was a B&B called Eva's Rooms. I checked it out on the Internet and it looks good. Area for either one is FANTASTIC. Try restraurant nearby called Al la Rampa near Spanish Steps.

I just stayed at the Alimandi a few weeks ago. ( night before i flew out) It is very nice but the location is not the best if you are staying for a few days. I would recommend something a little more centrally located. You may want to consider an apartment- so many of them offer a 3 night min. stay. We paid 160 a night for a lovely apt. in the Piazza Navona area.A great location.

I just stayed at Pallazzo Olivia and found it to be so wonderful. The location is fantastic and the apartment was great. I will never go there again and not stay in an apartment! If you are interested the website is Palazzo Olivia .it. Also i have seen on Fodors people using Sleepin Italy.com and they have had great success with them.
