I am also interested in the Mariano Hotel, but have heard nothing- good or bad regarding the hotel. I have heard that it's location, South of the Termini is not ideal. The area seems to have a reputation for being rough and dirty. On the upside, it is conveniently located near public transportation. I would appreciate any information you find on the Mariano.

Unless you prefer to stay at the airport Hilton, you may consider the 3-star Mach Due which should fit all your requirements. It's the closest hotel to the airport (Hilton excluded), has reasonable rates (about $100 for the 3 of you) and has a shuttle service.

Hotel Mach 2,
Via Portuense 2465, Fiumicino
Tel. +39 06 6506394, Fax +39 06 6505855

Paulo

PS. Never used it, though!
How is the airport Hilton? I am booking a hotel for my parents who are starting a tour that leaves from the airport the day following their arrival and I wanted to book something close where they could rest have a nice dinner and meet their tour at the airport FCO early the next morning.

Re Paulo's suggestion of the Mach Dui - we stayed there last year and it was just fine. A typical business person's airport hotel - and about 3 minutes from the airport via their free shuttle bus. We paid $140 CDN for 2 (around $95 USD) including breakfast.
