Rome -Doria, Florence - Giada, Venice - Gorizia

Any recent info on these hotels would be greatly appreciated. The Doria is at 4 Via Merulana near Santa Maria Maggiore and not far from Termini Station. The Giada is at 2 Canto de Nelli on the Piazza San Lorenzo. The Gorizia A La Valigia is at 4969 Calle Dei Fabrici (not sure what that's close to). I've read some of the posts about the Doria and Giada but, in addition to information on the hotels themselves, I'm also looking for other relevant info (e.g. pros/cons, the neighborhood in general, distance from some of the sights, etc. Thanks very much. <BR>

The Giada is right on P. San Lorenzo. Rooms in front can be very noisy. You have to walk up 2 flights of stairs to get to the hotel. Very centrally located, walking distance to everything. Owner and staff are very friendly and helpful.

Holly, I have a room at Giada reserved in June with my 77 year old father. Is there an elevator up to the lobby? Are rooms well equipped, etc? Any info would be helpful. Thanks

Randy - No, there is no lift up to the hotel. It's 2 flights of stairs, approx. 15 steps each. The rooms are adequate. If you decide to stick with that reservation, you may want to be sure to reserve an a/c unit for your room.

We ended up staying 4 nights in the Giada in June and everything was fine. They made all of our museum reservations, the room was large for 4 of us with very clean bathrooms and yes, there is a new elevator. Also, AC was nice to have.
