My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon and we are trying to get some good recomendations for a stay in Capri,Rome, & Venice. We will be staying in Capri for 3 nights, Rome for 2 nights, and Venice for 2 nights. If any one has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!!!

Elaine,

Thank you for the suggestions. We would like to spend between $150-$250/US per night. It is our first trip to Italy and I am not sure what type of amenities to look for. I guess first and foremost we would want to stay at a place that we don't have to share bathrooms. Somewhere romantic, clean, and charming. And in a good location.

Mike
Don't wait to book hotels if you will be traveling any time during 2001; most of the small, popular, and moderately-priced hotels book up completely months in advance.
I have more details in my Venice file but here are only some of the hotels often recommended on this forum for Venice, and also try the websites
www.venere.it
www.ve.flashnet.it
www.hotelguide.ch/
www.venicehotel.com/
www.italyhotel.com/venezia
www.italyguide.com/
www.hotelguide.ch/
www.travelweb.com
http://hotelsvenice.com
www.italiantourism.com/ I
www.traveleurope.it/
www.itwg.com
Hotel Flora, Do Pozzi, Bel Sito, San Moise,Giorgione,Riva,Galleria, Accademia, La Calcina, Pensione Seguso,
Ateneo, Metropole, Canada, Locanda Leon Bianco, Locanda Casa Petrarca, and the new Locanda San Barnaba, etc.
Or do a search here on Venice hotels, Rome Hotels, etc
good luck

My wife and I were married in Venice last March and spent our wedding night at the Hotel Principe ****. It sits on the Grand Canal (close to the Ferrovia...train station).

You'll save money and time lugging your luggage around to other hotels deeper within Venice. Principe is literally less than 200 yards from the train station. The rooms are gorgeous and they have modern amenities like showers. There is a great breakfast room and bar off the lobby. There is also a nice canal-side cafe.

We had a huge patio with our room that overlooked all of Venice. It was quite romantic and compared to the Hotel Danieli, a terrific bargain.

Here's my suggestion for Venice (despite the fact that if you get 20 responses there will be 20 different suggestions). Call the Rialto Hotel and ask if you can book room 402. It is their central room, huge and very traditional and elegant, with the largest balcony facing the grand canal and the Rialto bridge. This summer it cost us 500,000 Lira per night, under $250, but a bargain for such a place. It is also right at the vaporetto stop for Rialto, so you carry your luggage about 30 steps to the front door. If that room is not available, but they can guarantee you another canal front with balcony (spectacular for the sunsets) then you still might consider it. (Room 408 is also very nice). This is one of the few hotels that I have found that will guarantee you a canal front room or balcony room that doesn't cost over $300 a night. Their phone is 39-41-520-9166 or fax is 39-41-523-8958. Don't worry about language--they will speak good English if you call.
