Romantic 3 nights Italy suggestions??

Hi All,

I am desperately looking for some ideas for a romantic location/ hotel, etc for my boyfriend's birthday. We currently live in Florence, Italy and have done the major locations (Rome, Venice, Cinque Terre, Milano, etc) but with SO many options to pick from I could really use some suggestions from those who have been there!

Ideally we want to travel from Florence by train (and boat if needed) as we were thinking perhaps Capri? Todi? ANY suggestions appreciated!!

HAPPY TRAVELS

I love Capri (and Ischia) but wouldn't go there in November, especially for a short trip - if the weather's bad the boats may be disrupted.

I also love the Amalfi Coast, especially Amalfi itself - you wouldn't have the boat problem, and although it also wouldn't be my choice in November, many seem to like it then. If it's within your budget the Hotel Santa Caterina is wonderful.

Have you been to the Ligurian coast ? Take a look at ekscrunchy's current trip report - Camogli looks lovely and very romantic to me. http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=35160904

Otherwise...Would you particularly like to be by the sea ? Do you want quiet and peaceful or young & lively ?

Not necessarily "young and lively" as in tons of kids and bar-hoppers but we are both 25 yrs so I would like to head somewhere where the city doesnt shut down at 9pm! Good food, and at least a few decent bars (again not looking for dance clubs) are important; we can appreciate a good bottle of wine, and/ or night-cap drinks.

I am not stuck on the idea of something by the sea, though the views of the Capri sea-view do have my a little sold! Just something cute, scenic, where we can find a decent priced hotel.

As far as budget it could go either way. I would like to limit the hotel spending to around 300-325 EUR- so if this means 1 night in a palace, 2 nights in 3 star, or 3 nights in a smaller, less touristy B&B any work!

Yes, Camogli should be really nice at that time of year.

There are several bar/restaurants around the port area.

Santa Margherita Ligure would be another option; more lively. Look into the GH Miramare (below); double with great sea view is 190 Euro at that time of year.

Since you've already been to CT maybe Portovenere isn't that exciting this trip.

We find Parma romantic. And close to Florence.

Or in Veneto How about Verona?

Or go to Vicenza and check out La Grande Mostra about Palladio.

In Umbria Assisi is very Romantic. As is Spello.

Lots of choices...

€300-325 is quite a goodly amount - I think you could get the Santa Caterina for that at that time of year. It is the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in.
