Roman Artisans: Bespoke Shirtmaker Mimmo Siviglia
On my recent trip to Rome I was glad to see that some old-school artisans still remain. One example is the legendary tailor Mimmo Siviglia, who did haute couture fashion shows alongside Armani and Valentino at the Pitti Palace (when the men's fashion event was actually held at the Pitti Palace, unlike today) and since a few decades ago focuses on making custom shirts.
He and his apprentice made some updates on my paper pattern after studying a try-on shirt they tested on me and I ordered 5 shirts, some of them in Carlo Riva fabrics. Here are some impressions of his workshop on Via Urbana, near the Basilica of St. Mary Major. I'm adding pictures of a couple other Roman sights. I will post about other Roman artisans soon!

Roman shirtmaking temporarily in London
Thank you for the kind messages. I will definitely keep you posted about the maestro and other Roman artisans.
I wanted to add a heads-up that Mimmo Siviglia will hold a trunk show in London next week, so this is a great opportunity for anyone in London interested in Roman tailorig and fine fabrics without the possibility to travel to Rome. Details of the trunk show are posted on his website (mimmosiviglia dot com)
