Road trip through Dolomites, Slovenia, Austria, Budapest, Czech Republic

My husband and I are landing in Munich and doing a three week road trip through the Dolomites, Bled and Ljubljana, Slovenia, Graz, Budapest, Vienna, and the Czech Republic, including Telc, Prague, and Cesky Krumlov, before heading to Passau and back to Munich. We will also be driving through Slovakia from Budapest to Vienna. My question is do I need vignettes for each country before we go or do I pick each one up as we get to each border? A few years ago we drove from Munich to Salzburg and picked one up as we approached the Austrian border. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

chacha7602,

I don't have any info. regarding border crossings or vignettes, but I do have a caution about rental cars. If you are renting a car, many car rental companies have a specific list of countries that they will not allow you to enter with the car. This list often includes Hungary and the Czech Republic. These lists differ somewhat from rental company to rental company.

Please check this to make sure you can drive into those countries. Crossing from Germany to Austria is not a problem with a rental car.

Happy travels,

LisaG
