Jose, all that cold weather!....like others I have watched the weather reports and the averages etc to plan as necessary.
I originally planned this trip to Madrid/Segovia for March but had a medical problem so now r/s for May 14-26th. I am rethinkng the clothing & I assume it will warm up a bit to the 60s at least. Still, isn't this snow a bit late in the season? Has the weather been unusually cold?

Yep, Ana Maria. Winter has been very hot, we've even had several lunches in the garden; but these two months are being a little colder than usual.
Anyway, it is not that strange to see snowfalls by Easter time.
You don't need to worry about temps in May, but in Pedraza it will be a little colder than Madrid for sure. Anyway, in the one hand, I remember last year when I climbed the highest mountain in Madrid area (Peñalara, almost 2500m altitude, 2006-16-05) and a t-shirt was enough, I only found snow over 2200 m. But on the other hand, May can be rainy and not as hot.

Ana Maria, I think Jose Maria has already mentioned it, but all this talk about the A6 ... Your best route to get to Barajas airport will be the A1.
It will be around 1 hour and a half, motorway straight to Exit 21, where you can get the M50 and the R2 ( toll road, 1,60 euros ) and then go either to the T4 or the T1.
I donīt think you will find a lot of traffic so early in the morning, and on a Saturday.
Rgds, Cova
