logos, its 1.38 now. The currency markets are unwinding lots of leverage, when its all done expect 1.20ish

I am rather concerned about the roller coaster ride going on in the currency market.

How can anyone do business if the exchange rate bounces +/- 5% pd?

The traded volume is too low, beacuse of the holiday season, that's why it bounces more than usual. It's at 1.3919 right now. Will go down further on Monday, since it closed low today and traders didn't want to keep their dollars over the weekend.

Of course not . The dollar will be under pressure again on Monday morning. It was too weak on Friday evening for a stronger start on Monday.

As expected, $ down to 1.4111 this morning.

I got some cheap tickets to Texas for the first week of January. (If they let me in ). The last chance to do some shopping. (clothes).
The tax free allowance has been upped from about $200 to $600.

Their driving is a lot better and people are not as grumpy there as on the east cost.

I was being driven to the Houston airport by a colleague, one year.

We were in the right-hand lane doing about 95 mph, with a string of traffic passing us on the left.

Suddenly, a pickup truck passed us on the right-hand shoulder.

As of noon today (Monday 12/22), the Euro is $1.39 again ... let's Hope against hope that it can stay under $1.40 for awhile -- but with Europe offering tempting interest rates, that's probably a vain hope

It is currently at 1.62 for us Canadians - YIPPEEEEEE! That is down from 1.74 a week ago - good news for purchasing our house in Europe! Good thing we did not lock in last week...

Why would I be upset, I'm prepared for the crash that is inevitable. I'm not fighting the inevitable.

I'm far more upset about the weather here in southern Texas and the flu I have sice yesterday.

It's upsetting that the shelves in the stores are half empty. (Even at Wallyworld, they spread out the merchandise, but that doesn't cover it up. The cheap things to buy are gone. , only the cra* is still there. I've found a few "going out of business sales" (one every 100 meters), but much there is already gone too.

Anyway, food is still there and plenty. Burger King will do.

I've been watching the Euro/USD ratio for weeks. Maybe it's time to reopen this topic! I'm biting my nails and hoping for the best when we are there in 2 months....

Yup. Good time to sell my beloved house in the Dordogne and buy something smaller, closer to or in a town, and more friendly to aging people. Or maybe buy a small villa or apartment in Morocco. I hope the euro gets stronger, as that house right now is my most valuable asset and I bought it when there were almost 7 francs to the dollar.

I'm feeling the recent rate changes as I have to transfer quite a few dollars to France for house repairs. But if I lived in France, the change in the rate between the euro and the dollar would have little immediate effect on my income and purchasing power in France itself.

I keep remembering the times that I've been to Europe when the Euro was in my favor. Everything balances out doesn't it?

What about Wallyworld? Is there more choice there today than 1.5 years ago? And the prices? The $ will crash, there's no alternative.
All my investments have almost doubled in "value" over the last year. Don't be so s**** to buy Dollars (or even €) if you want to keep what you've earned through hard work.
They'll take all that you've got, and don't even say "thanks" if you give them the chance.
