Rhine in October -- What's open and what are train and boat schedules like?
Hi, I understand from KD's webpage that the high season ends on October 3. After that, presumably the schedule is much more abbreviated. What about trains? What about the various sights?
I won't be there for long. I may arrive on October 3 and leave a day or two after. I'm still thinking about it and haven't done a thing.
Thanks!

Rail service should remain cosntant throughout October. Since you have a link to the K-D website you already know what is and isn't available.
Last time I was in that area it was about the same timeframe you are planning on..everything seemed to be open for business..at least the things I was interested in.
This is one time when an accurate in-print guide might be worth your time and money...or at least a detailed website.

Thanks -- that sounds good. As long as the trains are more or less running, I think that I'll be fine. I'm not planning to be there long anyway. I can probably check some websites for the stuff I want to see, but sometimes it's just easier to ask here.
Actually I'm not sure if guides in print are that accurate. I've had situations where several guides contradict one another and also what's available on the web. These days I tend to believe the web more, but that's not infallible either.
