Rhine cruise between St. Goar and Bacharach

I know that most people /travel guide take the route from North to South. I just wonder anyone take the opposite direction (South to North). Anything different or downside taking such route? thanks.

Also in Boppard, does anyone know how far is it from the train station to the KD dock? Thanks.

Speed is the only difference. I forget which way the river flows, but it makes a large difference in travel time.

There are SOME schedules on this Web site:

The Rhine flows from South to North so that may make a difference..faster is not always better(the faster you move, the sooner it is over). We did the trip from Mainz to St. Goar a couple of years ago and travel direction shouldn't make any difference in terms of scenery viewing, etc., especially if you have a day which is pleasant enough for you to be outside on deck.

It is only a few minutes walk from the train station to the KD dock in Boppard. I spent 5 days in Boppard a couple of years ago. Very nice little town and a great place to base yourself for the middle Rhine River cruises to see lots of Castles. Short train ride to Cologne, Bonn or Koblenz for day trips.

Enjoy

There is a K+D boat dock in Mainz...not too far from the Hilton and within walking distance of the Hyatt.

Thank you everyone for the comments. If there is not much different, I can have more options in arranging my route.

To LarryJ
You said the dock is just few minutes walk from train station. My train will arrive Boppard at 8:49am. Do you think we can catch the ferry at 9am? Will it be too risky for such tight schedule? Thanks again.
