Reykjavik Restaurants

Of course, everyone has different tastes. But for a gourmet nut like me, which one of these might you recommended?

Sjávarkjallarinn
SiggiHall Restaurant
Café Opera
Einar Ben
3 Frakkar
Others?

I like creative, artistic, well-balanced, high-quality food. Price is not an issue. (Though it is for gimmicky atmospheres and overrated restaurants.) Globally, I prefer French and Asian cuisines but I am eager to try Icelandic specialties like the lamb and especially monkfish!

I've already accounted for meals at Laekjarbrekka, Baejarins Bestu, and Vitabar.

...two and a half weeks!!!

We had friends who highly recommended Sjavarkjallarinn, so when we were in Reykjavik last August I had made reservations.

Sadly, we did not have a good experience. We were seated, then ignored for 25 minutes by the waitstaff. Other tables filled and were served. We tried to flag down a server, but were not successful. After 25 minutes, my 'dining' experience there was ruined so we simply left. I did tell the manager what had happened, and he apologized but it left a bad feeling for that particular restaurant.

We dined at 3 Frakkar. The meal was good, not outstanding but good. The atmosphere there a little worn.

I had loitered over the SiggiHall Restaurant website, but we never made it there. That restaurant looks wonderful.

I was in Reykjavik in March and I dined at Siggi Hall. I had a lovely seafood bisque (it had many large pieces of various seafood) and the lamb tenderloin. The meal was very delicious and not as expensive as you might think. Well worth every penny.

Silfur is probably the best table you can have in Reykjavik at the moment - or Scandinavia for that matter according to Conde Nast's 2007 shortlist.
