Reykjavic Guide

Hi, my husband and I will be on a Baltic cruise stopping in Reykjavik for two days. Due to our limited time, we are looking for a good guide/tour to maximize the sights in a short time. Any suggestions? We would definitely like to experience the Blue Lagoon and the Golden Circle.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

thank you.

We took a free walking tour with City Walk (2 hours) to get a good overview of Reykjavic and we took a Golden Circle tour with Icelandic Mountain guides (10-11 hours).

I wrote a trip report with our itinerary, photos, and cost breakdown:

Hope it helps you get some ideas.

The free City Walk tours with local students are excellent. We tipped 10 euros apiece, but anything is gratefully accepted. Reykyavik is a small place, so other than a City Walk tour, you really won't need someone to lead you around - it's all right there in plain sight. There are plenty of municipal hot springs and baths that don't charge an arm and a leg like the Blue Lagoon and that offer a far more local authentic experience.

The official city website has tons of information.

We also did the free walking tour. We did that on our day of arrival which worked great as we had traveled from Seattle so it helped keep us awake and moving. Before and after that we just wandered the city. The next day we did the Golden Circle tour with Grayline. Fabulous!!! We did not have time for the Blue Lagoon, but everyone I know personally that has gone has loved it. When our kids went, they did it the morning before their flight and said that worked great as they enjoyed being so relaxed on the flight home.

This thread is from back in April. From other another thread I think the OP is already on the cruise (or it may be over already).

Haha, true janisj. I always think threads at the top of the list are recent. I mean, they are but I sometimes don't realize how NOT recent they are...
