Reue Salou - Basque
I'm planning a 4 day trip to the Basque in March. It appears to be a culturally rich area, lots of roman artifacts and such things.
I had never heard of Salou until yesterday. We are planning to stay in Tarragona in a 4 star hotel. Prices seem ok (around €100/night).
My flight itinery refers to the area s Reue Salou. When I do an internet search it is referred to as Reue (Salou). Is Salou perhaps the Basque name while Reue is the Spanish name for the city or something? How should I refer to the city whilst there?
Also, can anyone give me any tips with regards to things to do and what to expect from this trip?
Thanks in Advance,
Aussie Zoo.

A number of hotels in Barcelona i've been looking at make a point of sayint they're 'Gay friendly'. What does this mean?
Does it mean other hotels discriminate against gay people? Or does it mean it's some sort of 'gay hotel'?

I'm not quite sure what you're talking about. Salou is no where near the Basque Country, it is just down the coast from Tarragona. The Basque Country is in the north of Spain facing the Atlantic, not on the Mediterranean.
Salou is a beach community, while Reus site a few kms inland from the coast. There is an airport just east of Reus.
"Gay Friendly" means just that, they cater to couples whose partners are of the same sex.

Does that imply other hotels reject gay couples?
Does it mean that it is the hotel equivalent of a gay bar? ie. we'd be the only straight people staying there?
I'd feel a bit out of place if so.

If you think you'd feel out of place, then I suggest you find other accommodations. And no, other hotels don't reject gay couples, it's just that those who advertise as being "Gay Friendly" usually offer a more specific "Gay Friendly" atmosphere.
The area around Sitges has long been "Gay Friendly", which doesn't imply anything except that everyone is welcome, although some religious fanatics may take offense.
