Returned from trip to Prague, any questions?
Hello, all!
We have returned from a trip to Prague and would field any questions that you folks may have.
We stayed at the Cloister Inn right in Old Town, seeing many of the "usual" sights and using public transportation while in the city. We would try to provide any details about what we saw and what we did, if needed.

Bob,
Just about everyone knows some English. I was very surprised. Those who don't, seem to understand German. Between English and my dodgey German, we got by just fine.
Public transportation such as the subway and the tram (trolley) are very easy to use and very cheap.
The Cloister Inn was very clean, great staff, comfortable and easy to reach almost anywhere with little effort. They also have a travel hostess twice daily.
Any other questions or more detail, let me know.

Larry, I'm not stingy, honest. I will put together our usual trip notes as soon as I can and post a message here when they are done.
David, No, we didn't feel threatened at any time. Our hotel was near the river on Konvitkska and one night walked all the way from Republic Square rather late and had no problems at all. There were two guys smoking a joint in front of the "Green Frog" (near Old Town Square), but they didn't even pay attention to us. We didn't use the taxis at all. The public transportation made it easy and surprisingly, the city is not that big area-wise. We did not go into any night clubs, but did make it to the Budvar beer hall on Na Perstyne (near the Tesco) on two occasions and had a good time with the locals.
Hope that helps.

We were there a year and a half ago and saw lots of pot smokers. We ate dinner outside on a secluded patio and people right next to us were puffing away. Also saw some guys, in broad daylight, selling bags. Nobody bothered us, though. That's nothing compared to seeing a guy line up coke on a doorstep in Amsterdam!

Dear Mr West,
The consuls of five countries hear of new scams, thefts, and dangers, so give good advice.
from Australia on http://www.dfat.gov.au/consular/advice
from Britain on http://193.114.50.10/travel
from Canada on http://www.dfait-maeci.gc.ca/menu-e.asp, under "Travel Reports"
from France on http://www.dfae.diplomatie.fr/voyage...s/alphabet.asp
from the USA on http://travel.state.gov, under "travel warnings"
Some experienced American travellers find the American site over-cautious. It is therefor useful to check all five sites.
I suppose that how travellers feel is subjective. Please write if I can help further.
