Retuning from England on Continental
I have booked a return flight from England on Continental Airlines (757). I just heard that it is a very small plane,which makes me a little anxious. Can anybody tell me if they have flown on this aircraft and how the flight was. Thanks very much in advance.

It's only small by the standards of a plane used for overseas flights. It's not small like a commuter jet. The thing most people don't like about the 757 is that it has only one aisle. If you are anxious because of safety, it's just as safe as any plane flying overseas.

P_M is bang on about the biggest downside being the single aisle. (then again, we expect such greatness of Texans
I prefer an aisle seat in this plane, though that means the possibility of others crawling over you to get out. The other issue is that while the pitch is the same as on the larger planes (31"
, the seats are a bit more narrow - 17.2 as opposed to 17.9" in width on the larger 767 or 777.

You must have flown on lots of narrowbody planes before, right? The 757 hss the same fuselage diameter as the 707, 727 and 737; just slightly smaller than the 320 family. Do you have problem flying those planes, not to mention the even narrower DC-9/MD-80/90/717, or all regional jets?
The 757 is not a small plane. It's not comfortable for long flight, but I don't see why you should be anxious.

Intrepid - CO flies to many cities in England. Bristol and Birmingham is almost always 757. Manchester is 767 in the summer, 757 in winter. Gatwick is 777 x 2 daily in the summer, plus a late 757 on Sat and Sun; in the winter it's 2x daily, often a 777/767 combo or 777/757.
[They also fly to Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast. Almost all on 757s for those routes.]

Sheesh, sorry, we're not comparing the 747 and the Spirit of St. Louis here.
Yes, one aisle is inconvenient -- but ``scary''?
``Very small'' is a ``very" relative term. Those of us who flew the old 707s can have a good chuckle now.
Really, though, if one were to have fears about flying transatlantically, there probably are a lot more pertinent ones than the relative size of current aircraft.
