Restaurants Madrid, Barcelona, Nimes
We will soon be in Madrid, Barcelona, and Nimes.
Anyone have any restaurant recommendations as we eat everything and would like to keep the prices from middle to cheap. No high end places. We are familiar with the better known places in Madrid and Barcelona (not in Nimes). Is Cal Pep still worth the wait?
We like to go tasca hopping. Is the Plaça del Pi still good for that in Barcelona. One night in Madrid we will go Calle de la Libertad in Madrid for tapas.
A relative has moved to Madrid and has an apartment in Barrio de las Letres, so we are looking forward to living like madrileños.
Thanks.
(Yes, I will consult Maribel guides.)

Dining in Madrid and Nimes
There are several new places in the Salamanca/Retiro neighborhoods. Group Triciclo has opened up a new informal space called La Elisa at Calle Santa Maria, 42, and another eatery they call Market by Triciclo. It's in the El Cortes Ingles at C/ Raimundo Fernandez Villaverde, 79, in the north.
We 'discovered' a fairly new place last month, Tres Por Cuatro, where the chef is getting great reviews. It's a very small space (only 4 tables) in a renovated market at Calle de Hermosilla, 82. Well worth the walk. He'll be moving into a new space soon because of its growing popularity (Inicio - Restaurante Tres por Cuatro - Madrid). Prices are good. Reservations required.
There's a market in the Chamberi that has some very interesting places for informal dining, Mercado Vallehermoso (Mercado de Vallehermoso Madrid - Entra, compra, come, ama.). You will not find any tourist hanging around! It's a real market, but with a few gastrobars, Kitchen 154, Kint, and Tripea (https://www.tripea.es), one of the more difficult places to snag a table. There's also an interesting Asturian Gastrobar next to Tripea you might find interesting. There's also great takeout. Compared to Barcelona, Madrid's on another roll.
Dining in Nimes is a little more difficult, but we had a tabel at Chez Hubert, across from the bullring. We sat outside. The mussels were excellent, as was the salad. Prices were fine.

My daughter, who was there in January, says yes.
She also enjoyed Bar Canete, as did we when we were there a week ago. BAR CAÑETE | BARRA Y MANTEL
If you are interested in vermut, try Casa Marriol, Carrer del Rosselló, 442, Barcelona, or Morro Fi Morro Fi, Aperitius, Vermut i Bars. Barcelona. (We went to the one on Consell de Cent, which was just down the street from where we were staying.) Both make their own vermouth, and the tapas were excellent.
We leave Spain tomorrow morning, and we have a bottle of Morro Fi vermouth in our luggage.
