My wife and I will be making our third visit to Paris in May 2002.<BR><BR>There is nothing better than personal recommendations as to restaurants. We will be staying in the 4th e. Would someone suggest several good restaurants in the 4th and/or the 6th? (We went to "Bonfinger" last time and hope to return this time.)<BR><BR>Also, one near the Opera Garnier in the 9th for a late night supper after the Ballet?<BR><BR>Cost level would be $100 + and wine (prox.)for two. Looking for a romantic ambience, etc.<BR><BR>Thanks.

Anthony, I would absolutely recommend Chez Maitre Paul in the 6th, definately check out cafe Beauborg in the 4th (for lunch or snack). If you wanted to walk across to the 5th I also like Chez Rene.

Hi Anthony-since I have been longing to be in Paris, I will make do with sharing my lists of favorite restaurants ~<BR>L'Epi Dupin 6th-make reservations asap,they are usually booked a week -10 days in advance..Relais Louis XIII rue des Grands Augustines 6th-Les Bookniste quai des Grands Augustines 6th-Cafe Marly at the Louvre, great for a coffee and pastry or a meal-Le Petit St Benoit,rue Benoit right off Blvd St Germain, a small smokey neighborhood bistro,great home cooking kind of place, unpretentious,we go there all the time~And then there are the expensive places that I will list if you are interested..and of course what will happen is that you will be walking along,get hungry and discover someplace that you have never heard of and love it! That is the way we always find our favorite places..Have a wonderful time!C

In the 4th is one of my favorites<BR>Chez Julien,corner of 1, rue Pont-Louis-Philippe, and 62, rue de l'Hotel de Ville.<BR>Historic building, charming decor. French classic food, with an occasional modern twist. If duck is on the menu, have it. Last time I was there (about two years ago) it cost the equivalent of about $60pp with wine, but a less-expensive prix fixe menu is also available.<BR>Quite a small place, family-owned, takes credit cards.

Anthony: There are some very nice charming restaurants on Ile St-Louis in the 4th, including L'Orangerie, Monte Cristo, and Monde des Chimeres which I can and do personally recommend. Next door, L'Ile de la Cite, try Le Vieux Bistro in the shadow of Notre Dame, though you'd be hard pressed to spend $100 there. L'Ile Saint-Louis cannot be beat, okay easily, for ambience.
