Judith - I don't know what forum you think you've posted this on but it's on the 'General Interest' forum on the European board. It's not just on the Italy forum.
If you type in Venice in the 'search' box your post doesn't show up.
I'm really trying to be helpful - repost your post with the a clearer heading, perhaps - "Low salt diet in Venice"
Either way check this post again by clicking on your name, it's the blue 'JudithS' at the top of this post.
I hope you have a wonderful time and I hope the information that I've given you is useful.

JudithS, regardless of what forum you posted on if you post on the Europe Board your thread will appear on the Europe Board.
I do not like a salty dish.
I go to the region of Veneto and Tuscancy etc. and I have never found the dishes are overly salty. But about a year or so ago many people here on Fodors stated that they found the dishes very salty. So I was amazed and confused! Perhaps my experiences is that I eat a lot of meals in friends homes and not every night in restaurants?
You need to take a card written in Italian that you need dishes prepared with no salt or a minimum of salt.
Take this to Kinko's and have about 3 or 4 cards of this laminated. Give one of the cards to the waiter at your restaurant. Ask him to take this card to the Chef of the restaurant.
I am suggesting more than one laminated card in case one of more get lost or not returned to you by the waiter.
If you need an Italian interruption post back here and I will have my Italian son-in-law supply the proper instructions.
Best wishes to you and let me know if I can be of any help.

Actually - to expand on what alya said: There isn't an Italy forum either.
There is just a Europe forum. So "RESTAURANTS" could be asking about any restaurants anywhere in Europe.
Yes - do re-post w/ a more detailed title . . . . .

That's what I understand (and I think LoveItaly backs us up) - Wherever you think you post, your post always shows up on the "General Interest'" aka "European board"
Although you can search on individual countries, Can you post solely on the "Italian" forum? I don't think so.
I'm willing to be proved wrong

alya - I think we are both trying to say the same thing.
But you said "It's not just on the Italy forum" and that could lead someone to think there IS an Italy forum. I was just trying to clarify there isn't an Italy forum -- which is what you were saying too.
Just getting more confusing --
But LoveItaly gave her the best advice . . . . .

While there is universal agreement that JudithS should re-post with a message header that indicates the intended destination(s) of the restaurants, for which we is seeking info...
I will ontintue to take issue with anyone who says "there is no Italy forum"...
Here it is:
http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgTopic...35&start=0
and this post is "on it".
It may be less than perfectly effective - it relies on each new poster rmembering to click on Italy when asking an Italy question - - and yes it's a "virtual" forum, a subset of the Europe forum... but to say that it doesn't exist, is just not correct.
Best wishes,
Rex

You may have to choose your dining establishment such that you wouldn’t be making such a request on a 2-star or 3-star chef to create his/her dishes that had taken years of planning and perfect execution, to “take it easy on the salt”.
