Restaurant Recommendations (Lucerne, Weggis, Bern, Spiez)

Hi Again! So with help from many of you, my husband and I have decided to enjoy Lucerne and Weggis with day trips to Bern and Spiez/Oberhofen.

Would love some restaurant recommendations for lunches and dinners! Thanks so much!

I can't help much but wanted to ask the same question. Particularly, Lucerne. We (family of 4) will be there one day and night in July and am curious to what people have to say.

Luzern- Nix an der Laterne- near the river Nadelwehr (river level water control works).
Upscale Italian with my beloved Flammkuchen-swiss/alsatian thin type of "pizza", build your own toppings!
I'll be back with more!

jlm- not sure where you are basing for your stay, but if costs are a concern, Luzern Manor Department store has a great cafeteria style restaurant with many options and daily specials.
They have a smallish rooftop outdoor dining area also, with lovely views of the ringing mountains. Very reasonable, by swiss standards. Caution: because the store closes at 6 pm, hot foods stop about 4:30 pm...so, this is a good lunchbplace

Luzern - AVOID the colorfully painted Resto Fritschi- an overpriced tourist trap IMHO.
Luzern- Riverside Rathaus-Brewery-Cafe is great.
Luzern-for cakes or a light lunch-Cafe Konditorei Heini
Luzern- Hotel des Alpes-regional specialties in a lively lakeside setting ;-( next to Mr Pickwicks Pub!
Bern-Altes Tramdepot (newer) brewery-resto
Ristorante Luce-hmmmm, make a reservation for delish Italian!

Mokka4,
Thanks for the tip on the Manor Department store. That would be great for a relatively quick lunch with the kids. The first 6 nights we are staying in Lauterbrunnen and the last night is in Luzern just on the south side of the river near the train station. I can't remember the name of the hotel as the wife picked it out. We should be in Luzern by noon and will have to be on the train by 10am the next day so we will need a few meals there.

If you had a car, I'd recommend Restaurant Alpenhof in Küssnacht. They have fantastic food at reasonable prices and it's paradise for the kids.

Lucerne: Burgerstube im Hotel Wilden Mann; consider the Lucerne specialty called chugelipastete – veal and musrooms with a cream sauce in a puff pasty. Oooh, that was good!

Bern: Kornhauskeller (for the setting and the food).

Enjoy!
