We were in Nice in May and stayed at the Negresco Hotel. We found a wonderful restaurant called Albert's Bar. The food was absolutely incredible!!! don't let the name fool you. It also had a bar though it is a wonderful establishment. Decor classy and service was also great. I believe dinner and a good bottle of wine was around $115.00 US
Hope you enjoy Nice we really loved it. We also went to several other areas in the South if you want any info.

Laurie,
Because this region of France was only part of Italy, there's a lot of Italian cuisine available. If you'd like more info, please e-mail me directly & I will pull the names, address, & notes on a couple of restaurants in Nice with great Italin food.
BC

We have had only good meals anywhere we ate in Nice. The most memorable meal of my life was at Chanticleer in the Negresco -- unbelievable food and the most incredible service I've ever seen. Pretty incredible prices to match, too, of course. At the opposite end of the scale, along the main row of pizzerias and cheaper restaurants (pedestrian street between old town and the Promenade) is a casual place simply called "Pizza". We once went on a search of "the best" pizza places in Naples, Italy, but this one in Nice surpassed them all.

Being from Chicago,I would like to add that the best pizza we have ever had was in Nice. Go two blocks from Promenade de Anglais to Massena Blvd.(main drag of shops and eateries). There is a restaurant called Tavern Massena that has a woodbaked oven pizza to die for.Price is inexpensive and with a glass of wine or beer....heaven on earth!Afterwards, hit one of the ice cream/crepe shops near Tavern Massena for a chocolate crepe.Bon appetit!
