Residenza Zanardelli in Rome

There are quite a few posts in Fodors and Tripadvisor about Residenza Zanardelli but, alas are seriously outdated. Can anyone shed some light as to their services these days? Your opinions and suggestions will be appreciated.

don't have any personal info, but we looked at this one too. you might try the reviews on venere.com & slowtrav.com. slowtrav has some great info - find apartment reviews.

if you are interested in others, we have several we found that were acceptable to us:

1. dolceroma.com - very high ratings; private owner apts in various areas; prices good; our 1st choice, but not available for our dates; apts look great.

2. residenzagiubbonari.com - very high reviews; several apts. in one building in campo dei fiori; these apts. looked very good;

3. navonasuitesrome.com - private owner; we stayed there last year but this year decided to try different area; great reviews; just steps from P.Navona.

4. i also did a check on agencies - all got bad reviews except a smaller one - domusintl.com.

5. we decided on residencebarberini.com because we wanted to try that area; gets great reviews; we'll see how it goes!

Good luck, Julie

Julie, Thanks so much for the advice on Navona Suites. Some questions. Did you stay at the Borromoni room? And did you have a tv? lol.. sorry but this is one condition my husband made me promise on!

You think a TV requirement is bad - how about dragging around a portable DVD player & DVDs! My hubby has been there; done that!

We had TV & I think all units do, but not much good. As in most apartments & hotels I have checked, only 2 English channels - CNN International & British International & they were not "real" time. Kept repeating each day - booooring!

Now Residence Barberini has DVD players with a complimentary loaner DVD library (good one according to reviews). This place has a front desk staff, which is unusual for apts. When I called for their price ($10 ATT International card at Walmart; 10 cents a minute), I said "Oh, that's out of my budget!" & was offered 20 euros less per night. Of course, they are not in P.Navona.

I think residence giubbonari has DVD players too, but maybe no DVDs? Only complaint I heard about them is the floors were dirty from dust, not filth. They are about 5 minutes from Navona Suites.

At Navona Suites, we stayed in the Michelangelo - the big unit. I believe the other two are just like hotel rooms with 1 bed - but bigger than hotel rooms. Extra beds or sofa beds are brought in for extra people, I think. Don't know if that would make those 2 units cramped. Then the 2 units share a kitchen. If you email them, Anna will usually get right back with you, except on the weekends. She is usually slow in responding then.

The Michelangelo is advertised as 2 bedrooms, I believe. But it really isn't. There is one large bedroom w/a bath (shower/no tub); a combined kitchen/living room area with sofa bed & table w/4 chairs & sink/appliance/cabinet area; 2 twin beds in the long & secluded entry hallway (secluded except when entering or exiting the apartment, of course) & a bath (shower/no tub)at the end of the hallway; a large terrace.

The owner & Anna (she is one usually deal with) are great. There is a phone, but you must buy "credits" for it to work. We didn't. Put cell phone on international. I don't know if there is AC; we were there in Nov.

They arranged car pickup & dropoff for us. Price was average.

It is located on an absolutely great street; typically very narrow cobblestones; ancient buildings; small businesses & residences; small grocery; restaurants; gelato; pizza; bakery. And the buses are just steps away.
