Renting A Car in Manchester-Where to Return?

Hello,
My husband and I are renting a car in Manchester to drive to Lyme Park, Chatsworth House, Cardiff, Stonehenge and Bath and then going to London. We would like to return car outside of London and take the train into London. Where would be a good city to return? Thanks

No city . . . Return it at Heathrow and take the tube into London.

By far the easiest place and all the major rental agencies are there. Plus it is on the direct motorway in from Bath.

If you can return it at Bath, saves the need to park the car in Bath and the hire cost.

Book a train to London around 10 weeks before date of travel for the lowest prices (Advance tickets)

Second thoughts - you could even return it at Cardiff, take a train to Bath, do a half day tour to Stonehenge, then train to London

Both are decent suggestions -- but if you wanted to see anything between Bath and London (Lacock, Avebury, Stonehenge, Salisbury, or maybe Windsor) you'd need the car.

Part of the reason we need to return the car after stone henge is because we need somewhere to keep our luggage

Heathrow is the best by FAR if you are driving from Stonehenge. It is less than minutes from the stones to the rental car depots, mostly on the direct M3 and M25 motorways.

Then the rental company will shuttle you to T3 to catch the tube into town.
