Renting a car for Paris to Normandy

Sometimes that fee is just a part of the trip for pure convenience. Pretty sure ours wasn't anything like that.

Too bad about the fixed times. We loved Rouen as our first stop FROM CDG, so you could do it on the return from Normandy, just before going to CDG. Short drive.

I don´t pay the fees either (except the road tax) because I don´t pickup rentals at airports or train stations and I would never request a car with automatic transmission.

Sometimes one can't avoid the airport/train station fee. That's the case in small towns where the agency is down the street from the train station (Europcar in Brive-ls-Gaillarde) or whose city office is lost in the industrial zone of the city (Europcar in Limoges) and is not given as an option when renting through Autoeurope.

A further note on rental information. Autoeurope has changed its web site. Choosing a location other than a train station in Paris is not as easy as it used to be. Kemwel still has a greater nominal choice. For more information just start a dummy run for car rentals on both sites.
