Hi,

I was wondering if anyone ever had a one week rental in provence--in the country side where it's nice to relax, enjoy, ride bicycle but also with the ability to go visit places like aix, avignon, etc?
that's also easy to get to...

I don't know any french yet but thought that would be something different that i've never done in europe--do a 1 week rental--

You will find countless descriptions here from those who have done just you seek to do. And there are literally hundreds of properties that are a match for what you want - - it's all about finding your own match, by features, bedrooms and bathrooms, prince and location. i have never stayed in Provence per se, but in the nearby Var, and would do it again annually... summer, spring and fall, if I could.

I will vopuch for www.francevillas.com (they might be better with properties suitable for large families/groups then small - - I have never used them for small) - - but you will find tons of info on the myriad available agencies and rental sources at www.slowtrav.com

I spent a week in Venasque a few years ago. It was well suited to explore much of the Haute Provence area, Avignon, the Chateauneuf de Pape vineyards, etc. There were a few nice restaurants, nice slice of Provencal hill town life. There are several rentals available in this town at www.france.co.nz. I expect other towns would provide a similar experience.

A car isn't absolutely essential in Provence, but in the countryside it's hard to do without one.
