Rental car in Amalfi

I can probably ask my hotel to arrange a car rental for me. I am wondering if it might be more economical to do it myself. Has anyone reserved their own car on the Amalfi coast for a day or two. What company did you use? Do you have an email address? I believe Auto Europe's closest location is in Salerno.

Auto Europe also has a location in Sorrento. It's far cheaper to reserve in the US before you go to Europe. We're renting through Auto Europe in Salerno on our upcoming trip. We have used them many times and are satisfied customers.

I have spoken with Auto Europe. They don't have rates for 2002 yet but have told me it's unlikely that they would deliver a car to Amalfi for a 1-2 day rental. I have websites for a few car services that offer rentals. Before I contact any,I was hoping for some recommendations.

I have booked a car through Auto Europe, they are reasonable, and have a courtesy drop off point at a hotel in Sorrento.

Hi Tammy,

Well, - I can't find any in Amalfi, so Salerno's your nearest, I think. I expect you've already got these:-

AVIS Fax. 0039 089 255094
SIXT Fax. 0039 089 233617 ...(www.sixt.it)

Hope this helps ...

Steve

P.S. I've put the 0039 Italy code from the U.K., - I'm assuming it's the same from the U.S.?

Hello Steve James, thank you again. Obviously you've spent a lot of time in this area. Do you have any restaurant recommendations?

Hello again Tammy,

I just tend to ask for reccommendations wherever I stay or look for trattorie where the locals eat, rather than the tourist restaurants with menus in several languages. It's always worked for me - I've never had a bad meal yet! Good luck!

Steve
