Reims for NYE?
My husband and I are planning a delayed honeymoon to Paris at Christmas. We love the idea of spending New Year's Eve (our anniversary) in the Champagne region. However, most of the champagne houses I researched indicate they may be closed between Christmas and New Year's. This is disappointing because visiting the great houses and caves is one of our primary interests.
Has anyone visited Reims between Christmas and New Year's and, if so, would you please suggest which houses you were able to tour, if any?
Thanks so much!

We were there 2 yrs ago. Most of the houses were closed except for Tattinger (but we didn't hit all of them). We showed up for a tour but no tour guides were around. We ended up getting a tour by one of the Tattinger cousins. Why not stay in Paris. Paris is a blast at christmas and new years.

A few of them are open. I went to Taittinger also on the morning of the 26th, the english tours might be few though. You might want to contact the Tourism Office of Reims nearer to the holiday and they will have a listing of which are and aren't open.
I think you have a pretty good chance of hitting a few if you have btwn Christmas and New Year's.

jay, thanks for your response.
We're actually landing in Paris on Christmas Day and were planning on heading to Reims on the 30th. We thought it would be a nice way to spend New Years, surrounded by bubbly and all.
However, based on what I'm reading, it doesn't sound like the champagne houses will be doing much business. I am wondering if we should stay in Paris the entire time.
Might be a question for a new post!
