Registration problem at cp.pt

I'm from Canada and am having trouble registering at the cp.ct train site. It seems to be the postal code. I've read online to try the Portugal format with 4 numbers followed by a dash and then 3 numbers but the box doesn't accept a dash. I've tried pasteing the numbers with a dash but no luck. Another other possible problem is the tax id and I've been enterring 999999999 there which I've seen suggested online as well..

Could you use an outside agency such as Rail Europe to buy your tickets?

you can easily buy tickets at stations, the app isnt reliable. i live in Portugal and i dont use it for purchases especially after the revamp as it is just too buggy and pointless

Hi Jim!

Canadian here also and just opened my account with CP - not easy for sure!! I finally gave up trying on my iphone, and using the app, and had more success on my laptop. I was able to finally enter my real postal code and entered all 0's for the tax number to bypass. Once i got the profile sorted at the website, all the info transferred nicely to the app.

Another app that could be easier and works for booking Portuguese train travel is OMIO - you could give that a try!

Finally booking an actual ticket is also quite involved as you need to enter passport info to book train travel - at least that is what happened to me on the CP site! and entering payment info wasn't easy either! I'm good to go now, but having travelled extensively in the UK and Europe using Trainline, I have to say the Portuguese train bookings were a headache!

The CP website can be quite finicky with international details. Since your post was from a few days ago, you might have already tried this, but usually, for the postal code, it helps to just enter the seven digits without any spaces or dashes.

Thankyou everybody for the replies. I kept trying over and over finally managed to get through the process but found it very frustrating.
