Thanks to everyone for your comments. I believe I will be happy with the London Guards. I've stayed in that neighborhood before (10 years ago, and can't seem to remember the name of the hotel or find it anywhere)and was happy with the location. It's pretty accessible to everything and the price is right. I booked on hotels.com and found it at a decent price. I was a little hesitant to try priceline, as I've never used it before. But following everyone's comments, I may give it a shot next time around. Thanks!

Thanks to WillTravel's help, I booked Days Inn near the Lambeth N. tube station (& the Imperial War Museum) for $98 (that's US dollars) through Orbitz.
I think that a friend's friend might have stayed at Regent Palace, but we couldn't confirm it and I decided not to take a chance.

I think you'll be fine there. Experience tells me that people who are happy with random people spending the night with them usually aren't very picky about their hotels. Since none of the warnings above about the place bothered you, it is clear those are not important issues to you. Have fun.

Ah, but I didn't book Regent Palace. I booked Days Inn. But for one night I think that I'll be fine -- as you say, I'm not very picky about my hotels. I'm actually looking forward to exploring the S. Bank more.
