Recommendations for Gordes

I have had it trying to find somewhere.

It seems that everywhere I try is full, or just sold it's last room. Sheesh!

Although it would be lovely to have great views, given all the places I want to see during the day, I doubt I'll be at the room much during daylight. So I'm thinking of staying somewhere less expensive. And I really don't like the idea of having to eat dinner the same place both nights- boring.

I'll just drive somewhere to look at the views.

So any suggestions? Firther, I really don't want to have to drive way up into the mountains when I'm returning home at night, probably with a glass of wine running on round my brain.

Besides, these hilltop places want an arm and a leg, and I'd rather use that money for a hot air balloon ride, or a special meal?

So please give me some ideas. I need a room July 1 for 3 nights leaving on the 4th. For three people, me and two teens, without breaking the bank.

Thanks much
MC

Isle-Sur-la-Sorge is a taxi ride away from Gordes (or short drive) and has plenty of inexpensive places to stay, good restaurants, a nice market and train station. Gordes made a great daytrip and would be a wonderful place to stay for a night, depending on your budget. Be sure to stop by the studio of Radu Focsa, a great local artist. Seeing his studio and talking with him was a highlight of my trip.

Is La Mayanelle full? Check Venere.com for the phone/fax numbers - I don't think they are online. It's in the Gordes village, and rooms are (or were)less than 100 Euro. We've stayed there several times. It's simple, but charming, particularly valley side rooms - incredible views. The village side rooms are a little loud. The restaurant is excellent as well, though no need to go there if you want to save money. Just go up the street to Le Provencal - reviewed recently on Slow Travel, and I can vouch for both the quality and value.

Try La Ferme de la Huppe, which is tucked beneath Gordes on a side road. It's a converted farmhouse with a fine restaurant and a nice pool; very quit area.

Thanks all. I booked at Mas Perreal. Now the only dangling night is in Aix and I'm telling you, the entire town is booked for some odd reason. I might have to go stay in Marseilles. Unreal.

Sure appreciate your help guys

Check this place out,

We stayed there in the late summer of 2004. Highly recommended.

You could check with Le Mas d'Entremont, which is on a plateau just above Aix. Easy access to just about anywhere.
