Wondering what the current time frame is for non-expedited renewal. None of the threads on the subject are terribly current.

I believe it's supposed to take about a couple of weeks unless it's a peak time and then it'll take a bit longer.

Just mailed mine in 10/15 and received the new one 11/12, without expedite.

If you allow 6 weeks for renewal, you will not be disappointed.

Mailed mine on 9/28 and received the new one a couple weeks ago - so, about 4 weeks (but allow for 6).

I renewed mine November/December 2004 (through the office in Pittsburgh, by regular mail, and non-expedited service. It took exacxtly 23 days from the time I sent the paperwork off until the new passport arrived.

I had the same time frame as Voyager..less than 4 weeks..mine too was through the Pittsburgh office..maybe they just work faster in the Steel City!

I sent mine in mid-September 2005, and received the new one on October 20. It took just over four weeks.

ten days, start to finish for my kids passports.

Less than three weeks for my mother's passport renewal in the state of Florida this past April.

My cousin just got his. We both live in Houston. 4 weeks. Just like the others' experience.

Same experience -- about four weeks last winter. The new passports have some kind of microchip information embedded in them, we suspect. One swipe of ours by the immigration officer through his little electronic terminal and we were on our way. All smiles.

If you live outside of the US and want to renew your children's passports (below 15), the father must also go to the consulate to give his permission.

If you've had a baby outside of the US and want to apply for a passport, the mother or father must prove that they have lived 5 years in the USA.
