Unbelievable, $467 dollars showed up in my CapitalOne 360 account today, no transaction or wiring fees charged either. I opened that account just for banking fee-free travel (no ATM charges at European ATMs), and now it's worked well for receiving wired money from Europe as well. I'm also in awe of the European consumer laws that protect air travelers, just amazing to me considering how I have been shat on by American carriers over the years with a pittance, like 5000 miles and a $7 food voucher for a 9 hour mechanical delay. Although better than this story https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/flights/todayinthesky/2018/04/16/airline-cancels-mexico-flights-tells-fliers-find-another-way-home/521587002/
Also kudos to SAS for quick and painless processing of this claim and a sincerely apologetic email, a class act. Note that they could have halved the payout to 200 euros since my son arrived 2:53 late (less than 3 hours) but kept to the scheduled flight delay of 3:00 hours for his replacement itinerary which just to the second qualifies for the full 400 euro payment, and on a $225 fare.
