read fine print on car rentals

even if you get ALL the extra insurance, i am finding SO many companies do not cover windows, roof, underside, or TIRES!.
PLEASE!
for a three day base rate fiat punto (ouch!).. car is 84 euros, milan malpensa, plus then all the extras, surcharges, taxes, etc.

end price: with extras...298 euros.
still not clear level of liability.may be ANOTHER insurance to contract at check in.

anyone know a good car company that includes EVERYTHING?

p.s. for tomorrow.. oct. 28 at 10 am, return oct. 30 19:00 malpensa.
(3 days)

thanks...

I'm the farthest thing from an insurance expert, but ...

companies do not cover windows, roof, underside, or TIRES!.

If I develop a flat tire that is not reparable, requiring a new tire, why should an insurance company pay for it? Thankfully, they don't.

Why am I thankful? Because if they did pay for it, my premiums would be outrageously high. In the 22 years I've been travelling and renting a car everywhere we go, I've had only one flat tire and indeed that one had to be replaced because the damage was in the side wall (or so I was told.) It was a lot cheaper to pay for that one tire than 22 years of insurance.

I don't know the context of your reference to windows, roofs and undersides but it seems perfectly logical and preferable to me that tires are not covered.

But what the heck do I know?

your car is broken into.
i would rather pay x dollars a day in italy to prevent having to pay 400 euros for broken windows.

after checking out all the additional insurances.. it is amazing to me there are still so many things not covered.
(underside of car.. i understand..because i do not even know how one could ruin that without drivng on inappropiate terrain)..
but.. what is insurance for anyway?

i will try one more time.. even the american companies have some additional insurance you can FIND OUT/pay for about only at time of check in at counter.
getting ready for another surprise.

Many rental companies in Italy will try and "upsell" you for totally complete coverage. It includes everything. "Italy by Car" did this. They don't even mention this when booking a car with "total coverage". I believe it was an additional E15-17 per day. It covers what you want.

You are PAYING for peace of mind and non-liability. Ask yourself how much that is REALLY worth? If it is too much either drive nervously or find another means of transport.
