I was in Rome all of Easter week and all we got were a few sprinkles one night.

Recently, north of Rome, a group of seaside hotel owners announced they were going to bring suit against the Italian weather forecasters (they are actually prepared by the air force) because they so often predicted rain when it didn't rain, they were killing business. (This was especially true over Easter weekend, when 3 days of rain was predicted, causing people to cancel hotel reservations, and it was 3 days of brilliant sunshine).
So the weather forecasts are useless. You should always have a rainy day itinerary and a sunny day itinerary when you travel in Italy, especially near the Mediterranean. I have yet to see the rain deter Rome's tourists, who march about in see-through-plastic ponchos over the ancient sites, even when it's pouring.

That is amusing zeppole because just about a month ago an Italian friend in Milan was complaining to me that the weather forecasts in Italy are never accurate. His occupation has nothing to do with the tourist business either. I have always taken a light weight rain coat, trench style, every time I go to Italy awbunch. I bring it on the plane with me. I get cold on planes so it is good to have consequently and if it rains or gets cold it is of course so useful. I have been in rain in June and even September when in Italy. Wishing you a wonderful trip!
