Yes there is one price for an open-ended ticket that can be used on any train, which is what you buy at the station, without reservations. But ask at the guichet about discounted fares - they may be available at the window. I was behind an elderly American couple once who wanted to go from CDG airport to Angers - and the clerk told them xx$ in 2nd class but if you 65 and over it's cheaper to go first class - they had to buy no senior railcard - it was just a discount available to walk ups. And if you're there long enough you may get some of the discounted fares demanding several day advance purchases at the window. Railpasses are all the same price in the US - RailEurope basically originates all of them - i always recommend using their agent, BETS (800-441-2387) for their great service, expertise, and, more importantly they don't charge some of the handling and mail fees RailEurope does and railsaver.com does i believe. Prices must be sold at a cartel price - no deviation - mailing and handling fees can be added on and varies. BETS has none if you order so much in advance; most have some kind of charge. But the pass is exactly the same no matter where you buy it in the state. France Railpasses are definitely not available in France according to SNCF queries.

You do not HAVE to live in Europe to order tickets on-line through the SNCF site. You can use the option of picking the tickets up at a station or SNCF office in France after you get there.
