Rail to Lower Early?

In Feb., we will be doing a short stay(5-6 days) in London. We have a good friend who lives in Lower Early(close to Windsor)whom we would love to train out to to see. We made connections several years ago this way, but I am unsure whether it is still possible. Can anyone help me out? Thanks!

Lower Earley is a suburb of Reading, maybe 2 miles SE of the town centre. Oodles of trains from London Paddington to Reading, 25 to 30 minutes travel time. Taxi or town bus from there.

There are also direct trains from Waterloo to Earley (which is close to Lower Earley). However, Paddington - Reading is quicker.

GO TO THIS SITE AND PICK A MAP AND YOU WILL SEE THAT EARLY IS ON LINE AS IN WINNERSH AND WINNERSH TRIANGLE. YOU CAN TAKE TRAIN FROM PADDINGTON TO READING THEN TRAIN TO EARLY. I HAVE DONE THE READING TO WINNERSH MANY TIMES FOR WORK IN PAST AND I KNOW THIS TRAIN GOES THROUGH AND STOPS AT EARLY. ONE HINT DO NOT EXPECT TO FIND ANY TAXIS AT THE EARLY STATION IT WILL BE JUST A PLATFORM ..IF YOU NEED TAXI GET IT AT READING STATION...ANYWAY GO TO THE LINK

http://www.thamestrains.co.uk/

Yes Lower Early is just below Early which is on the line from Reading station that goes to Early, Winnersh, Winnersh Triangle and so on. Look at the map at this site:
http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=europe&X=470000&Y=170000&scale=1 00000&width=700&height=400&gride=&gridn=&coordsys= gb&db=hcgaz&overviewmap=&scale=100000&right.x=9&ri ght.y=17

and you will see where it is. You can take train to Reading then train that runs the Early-Winnersh-etc route, get off at Early or Winnersh and make your way from there. Have your friends pick you up at the station would be even better

Many thanks to all of you for such speedy and insightful help! As you described the stations, etc., the trip sort of came back to me from the past. My friends will pick us up at the station and we will have avoided their trek all the way into London. Thanks for doing your part to get international friends together again!
