Will: 5-9-10 are correct, 1 is half right. I was going to ask extra credit for #1 but didn't. "How could the flight of a European made aircraft originate in the US?

I presume that the outward flight stopped over in Iceland, there was some sort of promotional tour, and then non stop on the reverse flight.

Not exactly on the flight reason. It was not a commercial flight if that helps.

That's correct for #2, but for #3 Heathrow did not get it's current name until 1966.

London Airport.
Grew up by it and always called it that even after the name change. So used to calling it Heathrow now I forgot it was not ever thus.

4- Friechrishaven, Lake Constance- guess

3- Idelwild Airport - later JFK - would have said Heathrow

6 - Heathrow

7- guess - Shannon

would have gotten #9 and #3 but none of the rest.

Great tough quiz tom!

Question - what was the first trans-Atlantic non-stop crossing on the Corcorde - year and where to where? (Got this by googling the answer to # 1, which I did not know.)

PalenQ gets #6, Heathrow, which is just a bit ahead of CDG and FRA.

Our favorite marsupial gets #4, Frankfurt, but I don't see any flights orginating in Friedrichshaven in those years

Curious that there were no Berlin flights?

Austria was correct for #4 according to this website (also #4)http://www.history.com/news/the-hind...rprising-facts

#1 Still waiting for the US side of the flight. I do recall that BA had a hard time winning local permision to land the thunderous craft at JFK. BA sued the Port Authority of NY & NJ to force them to let the Concorde land in 1977.

#7 still waiting

#8 still waiting

Without looking, I'm stumped by #7 if It's not Iceland. Unless they have started flying somewhere remote like the Azores?

"do Easy Jet fly to Reykyavik?"

Yes. And if they didn't: Ireland, Portugal, Malaga, Jerez, Seville, Santiago, and Gibraltar are all west of Manchester.

I think.

EasyJet's map shows service to the Azores, but I see it doesn't start till April. So Reykjavik is the current westernmost point.
