Also after Greece we are wanting to fly to Rome or Florence (I guess their is direct service)...Next June is when we are going and would like only 4-5 star properties..... many many thanks !!!!

The title of your post is very vague--you probably won't get many responses unless you re-post with more specifics in the title.

You'll get better feedback if you post your questions under a more descriptive heading, like "Which Greek Island for 5 days and then Rome or Florence?"

Get ready for a LOT of replies (when you do re-post) with the following word in them: Santorini.

My husband and I went to Athens and Samos Island in Greece...Samos is rather far-flung, near Turkey on the eastern edge of Greece, but we were on our way to Turkey, so it made sense for us. I loved the island and had a wonderful time there...I don't think you can choose a bad island. The Greeks are wonderful, the setting is fabulous, and the only thing you wish for is for more time to see it all.

You'll want two solid days in Athens -- I didn't need much more, but perhaps a third wouldn't have hurt. The city is extremely polluted from smog, and it made me feel like I had smoked a pack or two a day after a couple of days there. That was the only real downside.

I suspect there will be plenty of recommendations for islands -- I'd suggest doing some searches -- including getting a guidebook of Greece. Santorini is a popular tourist destination, and Mykonos is another popular one. They also tend to be the more "party" islands among the Spring Break kinda crowd..at least that's what the Aussies I met on Samos said. They were working on Santorini as bartenders, and had come to Samos for their short holiday.

I can't recommend any 4-5 star properties because I never stay in them unless I'm in Turkey where the best hotels are under $100/night.

Have fun,

Jules
