Questions about Florence
Well, the Florence part of my trip is almost set (finally!). Just have a few questions:
1) We are deciding between Tourist House Ghiberti and Hotel Casci. Has anyone stayed in both? Does anyone have opinions on one over the other? Is either one in a better location?
2) How hot does it get in Italy in early-mid June?
3) What time does it get dark in early-mid June?
and finally
4) How long would you say we need in the museums? (uffizzi, galleria, the new Boticelli exhibit) I am an artist, and my friend is not, so we will probably spend more time than she wants and less time than i want! Basically, I am looking for an average.
5) Any special advice/tips on Florence I should know about?
Thanks!

...and question 4 is really unanswerable - the Uffizi is relatively small (compared to, say, the Louvre), but if you like renaissance art you could spend an awfully long time there. Finding the museums' websites and looking at the detailed information therein is probably the best way to estimate how long you'll want to spend there.

Thanks.
anyone else?
About the museums - I guess I just want to know how long other people spent there. I only have 2 days in Florence, and there is so much I want to see - I am trying to figure out how to budget my time.

Loved the Casci; not familiar with the other hotel.
We are art junkies, so spent several hours in the Uffizi, investigating every nook and cranny, afraid we would miss something. We spent less time at the Accademia. It is smaller and there is less we were interested in. However, looking at David from every angle was a joy. We were also very impressed with Michelangelo's unfinished "slaves." We thought they were incredible. We also enjoyed a walk through of the 19th Century Room, but at that point in our visit to Florence we were a bit overdosed on religious paintings and viewed most of the rest rather quickly, which perhaps was a mistake.
Hope this helps, but agree with papagena that art appreciation varies with the person, and giving you an exact amount of time to spend viewing it is very difficult.
