I have visited Brussels many times - it's a wonderful city. The first time I stayed at the Metropole. It was nice but big and not as convenient to what I wanted to see. I would recommend the Amigo Hotel - right in the city center. It is beautiful with gracious service and very comfortable rooms. Address: 1-3 rue de l'Amigo, 1000 Brussels, fax: 011 32 2 513 52 77.
And there are wonderful restaurants along rue de boucher - one is Les Moules Provencal. YUMMY. And don't forget to pick up some Corne Belgium Chocolates- they are THE BEST. HAVE FUN Joyce

I stayed at both hotels in Brussels and here are my comments: The Metropole is located on a very busy square of Brussels (place de Brouckhere) and has a very impressive hallway (Art Deco style), but most of the rooms are old and definitely need refurbishing. We were so disappointed that we asked to change rooms upon arrival and moved to a "Privilege" room which was better (and of course more expensive). So if you go there, don't take a standard or "deluxe" room. You will be disappointed, unless they have refurbished extensively since our stay (november 98). Even the ensuite bathroom in the Privilege room required renovation...
The Meridien hotel is a modern hotel (top class) with all amenities of a luxury hotel. It is located on a square in front of a railway station but you won't hear much noise (soundproofing is better than at the Metropole). It is also not far from Brussels famous "Grand Place". Rooms are a lot cleaner than the Metropole ones but not very large either. Both hotels offer attractive rates during week-ends but tend to be expensive during the week.
Thank you for your help. I have also e-mailed the Amigo, and the SAS Radisonand have not heard back as of yet. I need a hotel that is wheelchair accessible so that kind of limits my choices. I have read that the Amigo and the Radisson are but I read that before and then I find out they are not.

Check out http://www.manoshotel.com
I stayed here in 1996 and thought it an excellent find. Near Avenue Louise. I paid about $100 for a single room with private bathroom. Most important is to request a room facing the garden. It will be difficult to sleep on the side facing the street.
